SPOOKY SEASON COSTUME IDEAS

At WW HQ, we’re getting ready to kiss long, summer days goodbye and welcome in the new season; putting the finishing touches on our new collection (dropping soon – watch this space!), and bracing ourselves for the Halloween Rush!

Halloween is our busiest time of the year, but also the most exciting as the team loves seeing and hearing about how our customers are styling their William Wilde pieces for the spooky season parties!

Since all of our items are handmade-to-order, we suggest ordering as soon as possible if you would like your order to arrive in time for Halloween, (especially if you are based outside of the UK), as our Halloween waiting list is usually long and we really hate having to turn a customer’s deadline down on one of the most important costume nights of the year!

So to help our customers get their creative juices flowing early this year, we thought we'd come up with a list of Halloween themes and costume ideas, inspired by pop culture's most notorious characters, that they can piece together with pieces straight from our website!

Morticia Addams
The matriarch of the Addams Family has always had a very distinct dark glam style. Think slick, bodycon dresses in fifty shades of black, and poker-straight black hair. Get the look with our Voodoo Lace Dress, paired with scarlet lipstick. Or channel her style with the Venus Plunge Dress or Classic Pencil Skirt for a more Vamp-ish Queen of the Night look. As for accessories, you can't go wrong with our timeless Ghost Gloves.

Wednesday Addams
Morticia’s daughter came into her own, style-wise with Netflix’s rendition of her namesake show, ‘Wednesday’ starring Jenna Ortega. Wednesday’s style is a gothic take on a school uniform, topped off with her signature jet-black plaits. Get her look with our Tuxedo Blouse or Phoenix Dress paired a pair of statement stockings (we're partial to the Stripe Hold-Up Stockings or Latex Stockings). Don’t forget to add in a standout collar and braid our Cleopatra Wig for the full effect!

Sabrina Spellman
One of our favourite shows to re-watch at this time of year has to be The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. A feminine spin on teenage witch, Sabrina opts for Poison Apple inspired plum shades paired with black skater skirts. A signature platinum blonde bob with a headband seals the deal! Get the look with our Chateau Blouse and Bow in Plum paired with our Starlet Circle Skirt in Black. The Kitten or Piano Dress would work perfectly, too! And a statement cape as a cherry on the cake would be the perfect nod to the teenage witch's style.
Lastly, add in the finer details like our Classic Blonde Bob with Fringe and Mini Hair Bow in Black to finish the look flawlessly!

Ursula from the Little Mermaid

We loved Melissa McCarthy in her role as Ursula in the recent movie edition of The Little Mermaid. Get the villainous sea witch’s look with her iconic sweetheart-neckline dress and black and gold choker with our Monroe or Angel Halter Dress and Bellini Choker. Alternatively, the Marilyn Bra worn with the Titania Fishnet Body and Siren Skirt could work together as a modern twist on Ursula's look, too.  Finish off the look with some aquamarine eyeshadow and bright red lipstick.

Cruella
While Glenn Close’s Cruella gravitated heavily towards Dalmation prints, the recent movie-version with Emma Stone explores the character as a fashion designer who dressed chiefly in black, white and red. With Cruella 2 set to launch in 2025, get ahead of the curve by embracing this new style supervillain and opting for our Kensington Dress and Bow or the Mayfair Mac. You could also opt for classic Cruella style and channel the animal prints in our Sahara Dress. Keep accessories on theme with some villanous mittens and a choker necklace a Dalmation would approve of!

Catwoman
You just can’t beat a classic, and for a good reason! Nothing looks as slick, flawless and feline as a Catwoman costume on Halloween. Get the look with our Lolita Leggings paired with the Storm Top and Belt or Tempest Top and Silhouette Mittens. Or if a dress is more your speed, the Wasp Dress is delectably feline. Put an Anne Hathaway spin on the look with bold red lipstick and don’t forget the cat-ear headband to tie it all together!

Lady Gaga
Mother Monster has always been one of our biggest muses, so we love getting to revisit some of her most iconic looks at this time of year! While most of her looks are special enough to be recreated for Halloween (meat dress aside!) we’ve chosen this one as our favourite for the year! This look's pièce de résistance is undoubtably our Blue Ice Ombre Bob with Fringe Wig. But channel Gaga's aesthetic with pieces she'd love like our Pitstop Jacket, Isabella HarnessRockstar Lingerie Set or Boudica Lingerie Set.
